CASE STUDY
THE TERRACE ROOMS AND WINE
We were approached to work on The Terrace Rooms and Wine, located in the iconic building formerly known as St. Augustine’s, situated on the seafront in Ventnor, next to the Cascades. The owners intended to transform the property into a boutique hotel, complete with a wine room. Our team began by assessing the existing bedrooms, which had previously been used as a bed and breakfast. Working closely with a structural engineer and interior designer, we devised a plan to add en suites to all five hotel rooms. In some cases, we had to remove walls, including storage cupboards, to create additional space and optimise the layout of the rooms.

TESTIMONIALS
“It is only on reflection a year later (after our project has finished) that I fully realised how lucky we were to have Alan and his team manage and deliver this project. The finish quality on all the work is incredible. The standard has allowed us to, almost overnight, become a destination hotel and attract considerable national media coverage including the front cover of the UK’s leading wine magazine, Decanter. We’ve had The Times, the Sunday Times, The Independent, Daily Mail and Conde Nast review in highly positive terms, none of which would have happened without the quality of Acorn’s build. Countless people have remarked on the quality of the finish and craftsmanship – particularly those in the building trade who happen to visit. Quality aside, the challenge of coordinating a project of this size is considerable and, in fact, given the typical unavailability of tradespeople on the Island, to manage to bring so many individuals together along with a host of suppliers and coordinate their work to a deadline is little short of miraculous.
